Link's Hylian Shield - the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

The Hylian Shield is a recurring shield in the Legend of Zelda series. It is an adult-sized metal heater shield said to be the very same type of shield used by Hylian Knights; though its design varies somewhat between games, one constant is that the Hylian Shield always bears the emblem of the Triforce and beneath it, a red Hylian Crest representing the goddess Hylia and the Crimson Loftwing.

This listing is for the classic Nintendo 64 Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Hylian shield. The shield is a 1:1 scale replica of the famous Hylian shield borne by Link, the hero of time, during his quests to save Hyrule and beyond. The shield is approximately 65 cm tall and is the exact dimensions as the in-game version used by the hero of time.

This is a realistic shield perfect for any Link cosplayer at costuming event like comic con or simply for hanging on your wall at home, shop or gaming cafe as decoration.

The shield is made of 3.5mm of metal with a wooden core and weighs nearly 6 kg. The steel metal parts are precision laser cut to within ~1 mm accuracy of the game. The metal parts are then bent into shape and riveted in place with metal rivets onto a curved core made of FSC sustainable hard wood, featuring detailing such as cracks and natural aging. The wood is protected against water and degrading with several layers of sealant.
The heavy grade natural veg tan leather straps are all hand cut by myself and then dyed using a natural leather dye. These straps are then attached onto the frame using solid brass bolts. The customised shoulder strap and solid brass buckle allows you to sling the shield over your back at the right height for you.
The cast iron handle and leather forearm strap are attached with bolts that go through the frame and allows you to properly wield this shield.

The shield is painted with layers of primer and then given the iconic blue colour using high grade automotive spraypaint and finally sealed using high gloss sealant. The Hylian crest is sprayed on with crimson spraypaint using a custom pattern.

The shield is made of quality materials and is built to be battle ready and receive sword blows (paint will scratch though!). They come with a quality assurance and quarantee.

I made these to look as authentic to the game as possible while using some true medieval shield techniques to make them as real as possible. They are meant to be played with as well as display and cosplay! I can vary colouring such as Dark Link and can add battle worn aging to the shields on request.
